He started to use his wrist more but still kept his lower hand in a stationary position. After one complete session he increased his speed but I needed to correct his positioning. He also complained of lower back pain (positioning, reaching for the puck with his back and not sliding the stick through his lower hand). He likes the drill and sees a difference. He needs to be monitored through the drill each day.
I get the lower back pain all the time since I refuse to use a longer stick......Caused primarily from using a short stick. You can run into it on the ice during stationary stickhandling drills also. A longer stick helps with this since he doesnt have skates on. You may want to have a longer stick for off ice workouts.

I have removed the level one ball because of the back pain mentioned earlier. I still need to stay on him about drills but once he starts he gets into it. He moves the balls quicker now and his head is up more. I notice a definite improvement in power and accuracy. Try outs will begin shortly.
The level 1 ball shouldnt cause a problem. Its effects are primarily felt in the arm and shoulder.

It is almost six weeks now and their is overall playing improvement. His passing has definetly improved and his stick handling down the ice is much better. His shooting is powerful. His head is up. Billy was approached during his try-out (new team) and asked about his playing ability. I think what he has learned with his stickhandling has a lot to do with it. Billy made the team.
This is great ! We knew it would help players get ready for tryouts and your son is proof .Congratulations !! Keep up the good work.
